The table above leaves some things out. These are the places where each of the others does more than we do.

Microsoft 365
Several people can edit one document at the same time and see each other’s changes as they happen. Its features also go deeper than ours in nearly every app.
LibreOffice
It runs on every desktop system, and it is translated into more than a hundred languages.
WPS Office
It has apps for phones, and a large toolbox for PDF files.
Rutba Office
Ours is Windows only for now, and its menus come in four languages: English, Urdu, Arabic and Hindi. Every release so far has been published as a beta.

Office files come back unchanged

The engine rewrites only the parts of a .docx, .xlsx or .pptx you actually edited. Charts, pivot caches, macros and embedded media go back out as they came in.

Outlook archives, opened without Outlook

Mail reads .pst and .ost files in full, folders and attachments included, straight from the file. You do not need Outlook installed, or a Microsoft account.

Private by design

There is no account and no telemetry. Spelling and the accessibility checker run on your computer, so nothing you write is sent away to be checked.

Excel 365’s formulas and Word’s references

Worksheets has the newer Excel functions, such as LAMBDA and XLOOKUP. Documents builds a table of contents, citations, a bibliography and an index as fields Word itself updates.
