VAT: {VAT Scheme}. A used car bought from a private seller or under the margin scheme is sold under the margin scheme: the VAT is within the price, paid by us on our margin, and is not shown or reclaimable. On a VAT-qualifying car the VAT within the price is shown above and a VAT-registered buyer may reclaim it. Warranties are exempt from VAT.

Total price · Part-exchange allowance · Deposit paid today · To be paid by finance · Balance due at handover

This agreement is made on {Agreed On} between {Business.Name} of {Business.Address}, {Business.City} {Business.Postcode} ("the Seller") and {Customer} of {Customer.Address}, {Customer.City} {Customer.Postcode} ("the Buyer").

1. The vehicle. The Seller agrees to sell and the Buyer agrees to buy the vehicle described above, registration {Vehicle.Registration}, with the extras listed, for the total price above. The mileage shown is the reading on the day of this order; the Seller is not aware of anything suggesting it is wrong.

2. Deposit. The Buyer has paid a deposit of {Deposit} today, and the Seller holds the vehicle for the Buyer until the handover date. The deposit is part of the price.

3. Payment. The balance due at handover is paid by bank transfer or debit card before the vehicle is driven away. The vehicle remains the Seller's property until the whole price has been paid.

4. Part-exchange. Where a vehicle is taken in part-exchange, the allowance above is given on the understanding that it is the Buyer's to sell, that it is handed over in the condition and with no more than 500 miles more than when it was valued, with its keys and registration document, and that any finance owing on it has been declared. The Seller settles declared finance with the lender and takes the amount settled from the allowance.

5. Finance. Where part of the price is paid by finance, the finance agreement is between the Buyer and the lender, not the Seller. This sale depends on the lender accepting the Buyer; if it does not, either party may cancel this agreement and the deposit is returned in full.

6. Cancelling. If the Buyer cancels for any other reason before handover, the Seller may keep from the deposit the reasonable costs it has already met for this sale, such as work done to the vehicle at the Buyer's request, and returns the rest within 14 days.

7. Handover. The vehicle will be ready on or about {Handover}, valeted, with its keys, service records and registration document, and an MOT certificate running until {Vehicle.MOT Expiry}.

8. Warranty. The warranty shown above starts on the day of handover. What it covers is set out on its certificate, given at handover.

9. The Buyer's rights. Nothing in this agreement takes away any right the Buyer has in law when buying goods as a consumer, including the right to reject a vehicle that is faulty.

10. The whole agreement. This is the whole of what has been agreed. Any change must be written down and signed by both parties.
