Data Files templates / Lending
Lending library
Books, the people who borrow them, each loan and what is out and when it is due back.
How the tables are related
A line runs from a field that points at another table's record to that table. Data Files keeps a record from pointing at one that is not there, and a query with both tables joins them by it.
Books
One record for each title you lend.
| Field | Type | What it holds |
|---|---|---|
| ID | AutoNumber | The number Data Files gives each record. Other tables point at a record by it. |
| Title | Short text, required | The book's title. It must be filled in, and it is what the Book list on a loan shows. |
| Author | Short text | Who wrote it, family name first if you want them to sort that way. |
| ISBN | Short text | The number on the back cover above the barcode, useful when two books share a title. |
| Publisher | Short text | Who published it. |
| Year | Whole number | The year it was published. |
| Shelf | Short text | Where it is kept, such as Fiction A-F or Box 3. |
| Copies | Whole number | How many copies you hold. It starts at 1. |
Borrowers
The people who borrow from you, one record each.
